President Gerald Ford died at his home in California on December 26th, he was 93 years old.
Ford became President after Nixon resigned under the Watergate Scandal. It is interesting to note that Dick Cheney was President Ford’s Chief of Staff and Donald Rumsfeld was the Secretary of Defense.
Ford was President from 1974 until 1976 when he lost re-election to Jimmy Carter. Ford was faced with high inflation and tried to find ways to curb it despite spending bills put forth by a Democratic Congress. He vetoed 39 bills which, for the most part, were upheld.
Best wishes to his family during this time.
