Al Gore III pleaded guilty Monday to drug possession when he was caught speeding in Orange County, California. The judge offered him a deal. Complete a series of drug rehabs and the entire case will be dismissed. After 18 months the charges will be dropped if he stays out of trouble. I found this interesting comparison on the internet, so pull up your bar stools, get a drink and see if this makes sense:

Let's put taxes in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

Scooter Libby's sentence was commuted. He will serve no jail time. He DID NOT receive a Presidential pardon. A pardon eradicates a conviction, while a commutation simply gets rid of the sentence, or jail time of 30 months in Libby's case. The President has been under pressure to grant a pardon to Libby, but did not do so at this time.
The whole case resolved around who knew what, at what time and who leaked it. There ... Read More
