The USA Freedom Corps was organized after September 11th “to build on the countless acts of service, sacrifice, and generosity that followed.” It was announced by President Bush in his 2002 State of the Union Address. After the disaster following Hurricane Katrina, Freedom Corps volunteers helped with the relief effort by delivering food, medical supplies, water and other necessities.
