My Own Political Party

Tired of the two party system? I decided to start my own political party!

Are you a true Conservative?

As I have often said, the two party system does not seem to be working too well. Why? The American people just don’t fit into two categories any more. I propose a new four party system that will better balance Congress, however Presidential Elections would simply fall apart. Could any one win with just 25% of the vote? Here are the parties:

Socialism Party – this is basically the party that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are advocating anyway. Why not make it official. The government would run everyone’s life and individual freedoms would be few and far between.

Democrat Party – for those Dems that are not quite on the Socialist bandwagon. They still are Pro-choice, Pro-gun control and for a big government.

Republican Party – These are for the Republicans that have basically given up on conservative values. They tend to be Pro-choice and Pro-gun control. They also tend toward a big government, but would like to see national security as a top issue including increased or stable military spending.

Conservative Party – SMALL government, state’s rights, pro-life, 2nd amendment rights, lower taxes. All the issues that conservatives SHOULD be voting for. And, by the way, John McCain is NO conservative!

I agree with the more party option, however, I disagree slightly on the “how”. I don’t think we need four parties (yet). I think adding one additional “Moderate” party would suffice.

The moderate party would consist of Rep and Dems that are closer to the center on issues. This party would be for the people that do not buy the “blue plate special” of either of two big parties. The people just left and right of center that agree with the majority of what one party says, but still supports ideas from the other party as well.
A Moderate Rep ,for example, would be for gun rights but maybe pro-choice. A moderate Dem would be pro-life but for gun control. On a whole, I think we are seeing more and more people shift to the center of the two extremes, could be one reason why McCain is winning (ATM). Just a thought.
Also, I think more people are for Gun Rights and not gun control than just pure Conservatives. Hell, any one that has read criminal statics for any country that have tired gun control(UK for example) should know that it doesn’t work.

I also don’t think that the primaries would fall apart, we wouldn’t be the only country to have three parties, most of Europe aleady does. We would have thee parties, with three candidates. They would just win by a 35-8% percent majority instead of 50+%.

P.S. The conservative party you listed above already exists, kinda, it aligns pretty much with the libertarian party.

Good point. However, I think that moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats may still be a little too far apart on issues.

Conservatives and Libertarians do seem to be coming closer together, however, again, a few issues may seem to keep them apart.

    Only time will tell!

While they’re at it, let’s fix two other things too.

    1) Get rid of the winner-takes-all delegates like Florida just did. They’ve already taken the power away from voters enough. Why reward only the top candidate? If someone came in second all through the caucuses/primaries and the remaining two flipped between 1st and 3rd, there’s a good chance the 2nd place runner would win, based on the most popular votes.

    2) Stop the nonsense of having states vote earlier than others. I believe if everyone voted for who they wanted based on the primaries without hearing the bias of the media or giving the same opportunity to every candidate, we wouldn’t have the mess we have now. I can tell you I wasn’t favoring Huckabee or Paul, but because they lost all (or most) of the first few primaries, no one wanted to vote for them or let them voice their arguments. Instead, they’re now voting based on Romney and McCain only.

While I agree with getting rid of the winner-takes=all delegates, having the primaries on different days does serve a purpose. If the primaries were all on the same day you may run into a three way tie for delegates. The decision would be then made by the candidates who would drop out, giving their delegates to others.
