Whenever there is an election, I try to do some research on each candidate. It is interesting to find out facts that I didn’t know before. For instance, Senator Joe Biden is very much involved in trying to combat drug use and stopping the flow of drugs into this country. Since drug use and violence due to drug use and trafficking costs the US billions of dollars each year and thousands of lives, it is important to try and create a drug policy that works. Senator Biden wrote the law creating the nation’s “Drug Czar”. This person oversees the national drug control policy. This law also gives federal commitment for drug prevention programs and drug rehab programs. Federal funding for drug treatment has increased almost 35%.

The law is also committed to educating kids about the dangers of drugs before they become addicted. Senator Biden also wrote that law that triples the penalties for those who sell drugs to children.
