Hillary Clinton seems to think that winning big in Kentucky and West Virginia will somehow have super delegates swarming to her like bees to honey. Not so. In fact, since her win in West Virginia she has picked up four super delegates compared to Obama’s 22.
Her second argument is that she leads in the popular vote. Not quite. Clinton is hoping to count Florida, a state where neither candidate campaigned and Michigan, a state where Obama’s name wasn’t even on the ballot. Excluding those two states, Obama LEADS in the popular vote by just over 600,000 votes. Plus you can’t even count votes from Maine, Nevada and Iowa which are caucuses not primaries and the total vote count is not reported.
Clinton’s only hope is to have super delegates turn on Obama. Personally, I don’t think there is a chance of this. Yes, Clinton may be the stronger candidate against John McCain, but the super delegates can read the writing on the wall and realize that voting for Clinton at the Convention may further divide the Democratic Party when there is a need to come together. I suggest that Clinton buy a set of Callaway irons and take up a new hobby.
