A Better Education

The United States education system has long been a one-style fits all. Either you go to college or you just don’t. A college education these days may not prepare you for an actual career. Other countries are more willing to provide an alternate to college in apprenticeships and vocational education.
However, there is a university that is trying things a new way. Kettering University has a unique co-op program. You can join their engineering co-op programs and, in your freshman year, start an intern at an actual company. Kettering rotates the student between working in an actual company and school work every three months. The student gets to experience real work projects and a real work environment. This means that when a student graduates from Kettering University they are VERY prepared for real-life work situations.
US News and World Report recently ranked Kettering University as the number one university for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME). It is also ranked in the top 20 in the nation in the 2008 “America’s Best Colleges Guide” which is published by US News and World Report.
Kettering University provides a wide range of degree opportunities and co-op programs including programs in industrial engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and electrical engineering.
