I think stay-at-home moms should get paid for the work that they do. I mean, I don’t know who exactly would be paying them, but I still think they should get paid! We always seem to be tight on money, so when I found out I could sell the dresses that I make on Etsy.com I was so excited! The first step in this money-making idea was to get internet service. I was not going to be able to drive into town and go to a Wi-Fi spot every time I needed to check my Etsy account. Being in a rural area, we needed to get Wildblue Satellite Internet. My Etsy shop has been up and running for three months now and the orders are really coming in! I am loving this because I enjoy sewing and I love staying home with my kids, so it is really a win-win situation. My husband is happy about the extra money coming in. I think it helps him to know that all of our bills have to be paid solely by him.

It seems that there always seems to be a nursing shortage. Right now, parts of the country are experiencing nursing shortages while other parts seem to have more than needed. Health care jobs are also great for other businesses like those that make nursing scrubs like those found here: http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/. Nurses uniforms have changed over the years, and the choice in the present is scrub clothing.

Nursing Scrubs come in various styles and colors making it easy to find a good comfort level. It is important to find well made scrubs that are durable and made from comfortable fabric. BlueSkyScrubs.com is a great place to find nursing scrubs for women and men (they even have children size scrubs). Prices are reasonable and they offer many different styles.

You can also find shirts, jackets, scrub hats, lab coats and lanyards. Everything for the complete nursing outfit! You can receive free shipping on orders of $155 or more.

I am getting tired of being told what I have to do. This one of my major problems with the healthcare bill. The federal government should not have the right to demand that I get health insurance. I should be free to shop for any kind of insurance from sites such as www.cometobarter.com or other insurance sellers and make my own decisions.

Now I hear that the National Labor Relations Board, a federal agency, it telling Boeing, a private company, that they can not relocate some of their business to South Carolina. Why? The NLRB suggests that it might somehow violate worker’s rights.

Every State in the USA is unique, they should be able to make their own laws regarding workers, health care, welfare, etc. That gives every citizen the opportunity to live where it is best for them.

Some job growth was seen in December and the unemployment rate is ow 9.4%. That still means that 14.5 million people are unemployed in the United States. This does not take into account the underemployed (such as those in part time sales jobs or seasonal workers). According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (some-
times referred to as involuntary part-time workers) was essentially
unchanged in December at 8.9 million. These individuals were working
part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were
unable to find a full-time job.

It still seems we have a long road ahead of us.

Included right now are extension of breaks for ethanol and other forms of alternative energy. The tax provision would be aimed at increasing production of hybrid automobiles, biodiesel fuel, energy-efficient homes, coal and energy-efficient household appliances.

Things have been pretty tense their with the discussion of the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts and unemployment benefits.

According to MSNBC:

Last night, President Obama announced the framework of a compromise that would extend the Bush tax cuts for all income levels in exchange for a 13-month extension of jobless benefits, as well as a payroll-tax holiday. ”Sympathetic as I am to those who prefer a fight over compromise, as much as the political wisdom may dictate fighting over solving problems, it would be the wrong thing to do,” Obama said. “The American people didn’t send us here to wage symbolic battles or win symbolic victories.”

Just out – the bipartisan deficit commission appointed by President Obama has finally made some recommendations. However, I don’t think there are going to be very many people happy with the outcome. Recommendations include raising the gasoline tax, eliminating the mortgage-interest deductions, raising the retirement age to 69 and reduction Social Security and Medicare. There seems to be some benefits to corporations on one hand, but on the other taking them back and more. The American people will be looking more for job stimulus and an improving economy in the ways of jobs or small business opportunity. The commission might want to go back to the drawing board.

People are still not willing to say that the economy is turning around. I know many people that are putting off big (and small) purchases because they are afraid that things are not going to get better for a while. I would love to buy new Moen kitchen faucets, but my old one is working and I just don’t want to make any cosmetic changes for now.

The good news that came out today was that employers added 151,000 jobs in October, but the bad news is that the unemployment rate remains at 9.6%. Plus, there was 8,000 government jobs lost. Considering that 14.8 million people are unemployed, 151,000 looks like a drop in the ocean.

The Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010, also know as the jobs bill was designed to as state aid to save thousands of teacher and government worker jobs. But does the bill actually create jobs? Not really. Instead, it looks like unemployment will remain at about 9.5%

This bill brings the total direct federal spending on the economy to nearly $1.2 trillion since 2007. And, it may not be over yet. Even though the first stimulus package netted zero jobs but put the United States into further debt, Congress may try it again. That is, if they can keep their jobs come November!
