My Economic Stimulus Plan

Since I am not happy with the economic stimulus plan that is most likely going to be signed by the President today, I am proposing my own economic stimulus plan and hope that you will sign up for mine. This is not a new idea, but has been proposed in the past by Rep. Louie Gohmert.

To President Obama and the United States Congress:

You promise to suspend my income tax for the year of 2009. This will cost approximately $1.2 trillion dollars (not much more than the current pork filled plan).

I promise to spend at least 50% of this money on items such as shoes, television, cars and other consumer goods to keep the economy healthy. I also promise to use the remaining 50% of the money to pay down any personal debt that I may have.

You promise to quit spending more and more money on ridiculous items such as buying more and newer cars for government bureaucrats, refurbishing the Department of Agriculture, anti-smoking programs and converting analog televisions to digital.

I promise that if you make good on your end of the promises, I won’t vote you out four years from now!

Fancy Cars

What kind of car does the President drive around in? It is a 2006 Cadillac version of the Cadillac DeVille Touring Sedan. The Limousine is hand-crafted with custom dash kits and is armored. The interior is leather and the and their is even a rear foldaway desktop. Also included is an entertainment system and massaging cushions. The flag of the United States is mounted on the right front fender and the Presidential flag in on the left front fender. The Presidential seal is on the doors. If I were President, I think I would want a Hummer as the Presidential Limo!

If I could, I would run fiber cable directly from my home office to the office of the President. Then, whenever he was about to make a stupid decision, I could just send him one message – Duh! For example, the whole immigration mess was a Duh! moment. What was he thinking trying to push through a policy that a majority of Americans disagree with.

Don’t get me wrong, I do agree with some of his policies, but sometimes he needs to be reminded that he represents the American people!

Presidential Vacation Spots

Different Presidents always have their favorite vacation spots. President Bush loves to go to Kennebunkport, Maine. President Reagan was often at his ranch in Santa Barbara, California and President Carter spent his days at home in Georgia.

President Truman would often spend his vacation days in Key West, Florida. One year, he spent a day on a cruise, but not the typical caribbean cruises. He spent the vacation aboard the U.S.S. Williamsburg in the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays in August of 1948. Truman spent time fishing, swimming and lounging in the sun.

If I were President, I would spend my vacation time on the beach!

One of the first things I would do is completely eliminate the Department of Education. I believe that this Department is a total waste of money. Each state should be responsible for the education of its citizens. They do not need oversight by the Federal Government.

If fact, the annual budget for the Department of Education is $56 billion dollars. Currently, there are 61.2 million school-age children between 5 and 19 in the United States.

Basically, if you just got rid of the DOE and gave the money directly to the schools for educating children, each school would receive $915 dollars per student. That money could buy a lot of books, supplies and programs!

I don’t advocate giving the money to the States to distribute – give it directly to each individual school budget. Let the teachers decide how to use the money the wisest. The administrators would eventually squander the money away, leaving nothing for the kids.
