After Hillary Clinton's waffling response on the illegal immigrant driver's license issue, it seems that some of her "top aides" may have talked with some of Spitzer's camp to pressure him into dropping the whole thing. Surprising instant it? New York Governor Elliot Spitzer has decided that he will not push granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens. The public was definitely not in favor of this one and Spitzer has decided to back down. Of course, this does not solve the illegal immigration issue and I don't think Congress will be doing anything about it in the near future. Hazelton, Pennsylvania is not welcoming in illegal immigrants. That is why they passed a city ordinance called the Illegal Immigration Relief Act. This Act would prohibited landlords from renting to illegals and prohibit business from hiring them (of course this is already a federal law that is not enforced). The on-again, off-again immigration policy is still not want the American people want according to a Rasmussen Poll. 56% of Americans want an enforcement only approach to immigration reform. Basically, enforce the laws already on the books. A proposal that would increase border agents is supported by 62% of Americans. The Senate is having a difficult time passing this bill.
