The Declaration of Independence states that we are entitled to “the pursuit of happiness.” It does not state that we are entitled to happiness in the form of a huge house, huge TV, endless vacations and cruises, a boat, three cars, etc. There are too many Americans today that feel that these things are NEEDS instead of WANTS. Currently, Americans save money in a negative amount, which means that they spend more than they bring in. Now, some of these families are really hurting and have cut everything possible. But, there are plenty of families that won’t cut out the cell phones, cable tv, dining out and other extra stuff just to make ends meet.

The American Dream is about working hard, saving money and getting there. Not spending it as you make it, getting into debt and then whining that the government needs to step in and help out.
