Health Care Would Still Leave Many Uninsured

While the Democrats are determined to push through health care reform at the cost of $969 billion dollars, they will still leave approximately 12 million American uninsured. Plus, many families would be required to buy coverage. The premiums, however, could be expensive even with government aid. Although the government would provide a federal fund to provide temporary coverage for people with health problems, this fund could quickly run out of funds.
Democrats are still claiming that Republicans did not offer any alternative plans. Simply not the case. The Democrats just did not like any of the other plans because it didn’t involve spending billions of tax payer dollars or cutting down on Medicare.
The bills recommended by both the House and the Senate would require all Americans to get health insurance (similar to law in many states where auto owners must buy auto insurance). When did it become the government’s responsibility to make sure that I have health insurance? While government is worried about the high costs of health services, they do not seemed concerned that health practices may be part of the problem. Next we will see government mandating what you can eat and drink and when.
While health care reform may be needed, this is not the solution.
