I was never a fan of Senator Edward Kennedy’s policies. However, I did empathize with his family tragedies and I would not want to wish cancer on anyone. I am sure that Senator Kennedy was afforded the best cancer treatment & prescriptions for his type of cancer and this has become a rallying point for changes in health care.

There are many people in this country that can not afford treatments and some health care treatments seem to be for the rich only. That is way, a health care insurance plan that covers catastrophic illness would be a good addition to our health insurance coverage. While Congress is mired in the little aspects of health care, catastrophic coverage is a great place to start. What ends up costing the individuals is usually not preventive care or the day to day costs of health care, but the costs that accumulated when a major illness hits.

Of course, Congress may still not be any closer to health care reform now that it was six months ago.
