Finally, a Congressman Who Speaks Up

I have been advocating voting out incumbent politicians for a long time now. The problem is that everyone ‘thinks’ that their Representative is doing a good job. On the other hand, they are complaining about what a mess the country and state are in.
Well, here is a refreshing piece of news. FIRST TIME Congressman, John Adler, a Democrat from New Jersey voted against releasing $350 billion for the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Adler opposed the additional TARP spending because “We don’t know where the first $350 billion went. We have a right and an obligation to find out before anyone writes another $350 billion check.â€
The Troubled Asset Relief Program is a program to purchase assets and equity from financial institutions in order to strengthen the financial sector. What we all call a “bailout.”
If we continue to not hold accountable the spending in this “bailout,” we will not see any notable change in the economy or how these financial institutions are run.
Hats off to your Congressman Adler!
