Now that Obama is officially President, I wonder how long it will take before a health care plan is presented to Congress. Originally, Obama suggested the following:

• A plan that provides affordable, accessible health care for all Americans, builds on the existing healthcare system, and uses existing providers, doctors and plans to implement the plan.
• A plan that will lower health care costs by $2,500 for a typical family by investing in health information technology, prevention and care coordination.
• A plan that will require coverage of preventive services, including cancer screenings, and will increase state and local preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

Unfortunately, in this country, we have a growing number of people who are not healthy due to obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, etc. Since some of the these issues depend on an individual to make good health choices, it will be interesting to see if the Obama plan will include coverage for diet solutions, Leptovox, AA meetings, or smoking cessation programs.
