I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays! We opened our presents this morning and everyone seemed to be pleased. The one thing my son wanted was a hunting knife (like those zero tolerance knives) and that was NOT under the tree for him. Little boys seem to think it is cool to carry around knives, but just too dangerous in my book.
I received a Kindle and can’t wait to catch up on all the good political books that are out there!
I sat here trying to think how to start this post. What did I want it to say? How long did I want it to be? I wasn’t sure how to begin. I turned on some Christmas music to help get me in the right frame of mind to write a Christmas Wednesday Hero post, but it wasn’t really helping. I mean, how do you properly thank a group of people who have given up everything in their lives to serve you and protect people all over the world with just a single post on a silly blog? Many of these Men and Women haven’t seen their friends and families in months and many won’t be seeing them for many more months. How do you thank them? They are away from home during the time of year when everyone should be together. How do you thank them for that? Some of them will never see their home or loved ones again because they laid down their life for a complete stranger. How do you thank them for that? I guess the better question would be are we able to thank them enough?
To all those who have completed their service, the ones who are serving, the ones who have payed the ultimate sacrifice and those who may have never served but help those who have and are, Thank You and Merry Christmas.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

The economy is not going to turn around in one or two months. Black Friday sales were very good, but retailers are hoping to get even more sales today, December 17th which has been declared Free Shipping day. Many retailers are offering free shipping to entice customers to spend even more many this season. Deals can be found at FreeShippingDay.com.
There have been rumors that there will be more layoffs coming in January. Watch for increased unemployment numbers. Hopefully the economy will turn around soon.
FoxNews has a new poll up today asking “What Should the New Congress Cut First?” There will be so many new members this term that they may have to wear name tags just to identify themselves. The federal government has become so bloated that I think there is a lot to cut. Here are the results so far:
I choose the Department of Education. Get rid of it. Let each state deal with education. My second choice could be subsidies.
Interestingly, Chile has more cell phones than people. Rather they have IPhones or HTC desire 2.2 Androids is not revealed, but there are 19.4 million cell phones in Chile with only a population of 17.1 million.
Recently, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera enacted a mobile and landline number portability law, which will allow users to change their operators without changing their phone number. Maybe this will cut down on the number of cell phones in Chile!
I am changing my Christmas List and adding a bunch of women’s sweaters ! It has been so cold here in New Jersey. Yesterday the temperature was 9 degrees with the wind chill.
Freezing temperatures are continuing all over the mid-west and east and are even affecting the oranges and strawberry produce in Florida. Hopefully, the temperatures will rise again in the next couple days. We have been fortunate not to have the snow fall that other parts of the country have had.
We will try anything to get a tax write off. But you need to be very careful. I recently had a discussion with someone who wanted to write off the new modern sofa they bought for their house. I explained that this was NOT a write off. However, they could write off the fair value of their old sofa if they chose to donate the sofa to charity.
Always check with a certified public accountant or tax specialist before writing anything off on your taxes!
A Green Country military mom is especially proud of her soldier son. He’s on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, and now he’s been honored for his bravery under fire with a Silver Star.
It’s not his first medal.
For a mother with a son in a war zone, Lisa Wheat is pretty cool, calm and collected.
“I’m comfortable because I know the training he’s had. He’s had excellent training. And I just have all of the confidence in the world in him,” Lisa Wheat said.

It is no fun living in a state that is in enormous debt. While I would be rather out buying modern furniture, instead of spending all my hard earned dollars on property and state taxes, it doesn’t look like that will be happening time soon.
New Jersey, bonded debt rose to $36.9 billion outstanding in the year ended June 30th. New Jersey has the highest per-capita income of all U.S. states except Connecticut and has the third-largest total net tax-supported debt. While Governor Christie is trying to get spending under control, some in congress want to keep up the spending ways.
