Diversity In Congress

For the past twenty years or so, this country has been spouting the diversity ideology. This ideology is about including people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds and encouraging tolerance for people of different backgrounds. Affirmative Action was a policy that was supposed to promote access to educational and employment opportunities for those racial minorities and women.
Congress has tried in the past to force diversity with Affirmative Action policies. Of course, they don’t look at their own backyard first. The fact is, we have too many LAWYERS in congress!
There are 535 members of Congress (House and Senate). Of those members, 217 list their occupation as lawyer, 274 were former state legislators, 107 were congressional staffers and 195 listed public service as their occupation (these numbers do not add up to 535 since members can list more than one occupation). Only 4 members were pilots and 12 members were doctors.
We need to see these occupations in Congress: Plumber, Teacher, Principal, Engineer, Computer Programmer, Mom.
For some reason I just don’t think that lawyers and former state legislators have a grasp on what the average United State Citizens concerns are.
