However, its up to the living to work very hard to provide meaning to the sacrifices of those that have passed before us, and that goes double when their sacrifices are given so bravely. It's also very important for Americans to understand that women in the military play a vital role. I served with some of the first women to serve in combat units during the first Persian Gulf War. War does not discriminate against creed, sex, religion or politics, it takes a lot of hard work, and bravery just to keep putting one foot in front of the other let alone carry out a mission in a War Zone. That is very much a sad tragedy. It’s also very important for Americans to understand that women in the military play a vital role. I served with some of the first women to serve in combat units during the first Persian Gulf War.
